Respect for Homeland and Nature

Appenzeller® cheese has been produced exclusively in the designated region for more than 700 years. This strictly controlled production area includes the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden as well as parts of the cantons of St. Gallen and Thurgau. In contrast to Emmental cheese, for instance, Appenzeller® cheese may not be produced outside of the designated production area.
